Least Developed Countries Green Industrialization Facilitation (LDC-GIF) Mechanism.

Held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, this event brings together governments, international organizations, development partners and the private sector to advance a shared vision for green industrialization in Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

The Least Developed Countries Green Industrialization Facility (LDC-GIF) is a proposed global, agile, and demand-driven mechanism designed to connect Least Developed Countries (LDCs) with partnerships, resources, and technology transfer for sustainable green growth.

Overview and Goals
Core Purpose: Catalyze partnerships, mobilize financial and technical support, and unlock green industrialization opportunities.
Timeline: A high-level introductory dialogue served as a pre-launch event, with the official launch planned for COP31 in Türkiye.
Operational Approach: Operates as a demand-driven tool to help LDCs navigate the global green transition and avoid economic marginalization.

Why It Matters
Vulnerability: LDCs face severe climate impacts despite contributing minimally to global greenhouse gas emissions.
The "Green Squeeze": LDCs risk economic exclusion if they cannot adapt to modern green production standards and shifting international trade rules.
Technology Transfer: Focuses on easing access to low-carbon technologies and building long-term industrial capacities.
